SUMMARY:Winter Learning with Rabbi Jan Katzew
DESCRIPTION: "To do justice and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God." Micah 6:8

It may seem odd to spend three sessions on just a single verse, but then again we spend a whole lifetime trying to translate it into practice. From its inception, Reform Judaism emphasized the ethical domain and so will we. There will be ample opportunity for dialogue with classical and contemporary texts and images and with each other. There is, of course, no guarantee that as a result of these sessions you will be more just, merciful and humble, but we will try to extend the learning into our lives: at home, at work, and at play. Texts and images will be supplied. While it would be wonderful if you could attend all three sessions, you are most welcome at any of them.

Jan Katzew and family have been members of WRT since 2001 and is a regular participant in Shabbat morning Torah study. Jan serves as the Director of Lifelong Learning at the Union for Reform Judaism and in addition to rabbinic ordination from HUC-JIR, he holds a doctorate from The Hebrew University in Jewish Thought and Education. Jan has composed numerous scholarly and popular articles and has been honored to be a scholar in residence at scores of congregations, but in the inimitable words of Dorothy, "there's no place like home" - and his spiritual home is WRT.
