Event Detail: Engaging Israel: Foundations for a New Relationship

Date/Time: Wednesday, February 27, 7:00 PM
Location:
Details: A Monthly Project of The Shalom Hartman Institute

This month: War and Occupation - How can Israel use its power in a way that is consistent with the highest standard of morality and Jewish values?

How does one determine what constitutes a just war and the moral obligation and consequences of occupation?

Engaging Israel: Foundations for a New Relationship is a series of nine lectures and conversations with Hartman Institute scholars led by Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman that responds to growing feelings of disenchantment and disinterest toward Israel among an ever-increasing number of Jews worldwide by creating a new narrative regarding the significance of Israel for Jewish life.

Lecture and discussion participants include Dr. Tal Becker, Yossi Klein-Halevi, Rabbi Dr. Rachel Sabath Beit-Halachmi, Prof. Gil Troy and others.

WRT will screen monthly conversations followed by an interactive group discussion led by one of our clergy. The series will be screened on the following Wednesday evenings: March 20, April 17, May 22 and June 12.
