Event Detail: Elijah: A Collaborative Lecture on this Great Oratorio

Date/Time: Thursday, February 28, 7:30 PM
Details: Join Maestro John T. King of the New Choral Society in collaborate with our very own Rabbi Jonathan Blake for lecture on the music and biblical texts from the Mendelssohn oratorio Elijah.

Elijah occupies a unique place among Mendelssohn's works telling the dramatic tale of the trials of the biblical prophet. This interactive program will enhance one's listening to the work by discussing the text, the structure and musical ideas, through lecture and musical examples.

The majesty of the work can be enjoyed when The New Choral Society presents two performances featuring international star, Sidney Outlaw as "Elijah", who recently performed the role in Carnegie Hall. Both performances will take place at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church (6 Greenacres Avenue, Scarsdale) on March 9 at 8:00 pm and March 10 at 3:00 pm.
